Better regulation and regulatory simplification

A competitive Europe requires a regulatory framework that is effective, predictable, proportionate and easy to implement. Complex, overlapping or inconsistent requirements can increase administrative costs, slow investment and divert resources away from innovation and growth.

Better regulation and regulatory simplification should therefore be central to the EU’s competitiveness agenda. Greater coherence between legislative initiatives, simpler requirements and more efficient implementation can reduce unnecessary administrative burdens while maintaining policy objectives. A more predictable and streamlined regulatory environment can also strengthen legal certainty and allow businesses to focus resources on investment, innovation and the development of new products, technologies and services.

FFIF key message:
The EU should make better regulation and regulatory simplification a core pillar of its competitiveness agenda, reducing unnecessary administrative burdens and improving regulatory coherence, predictability and legal certainty for businesses.
