ETS

The EU ETS is the EU’s primary market-based instrument for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It creates incentives for low-carbon investments and supports industrial decarbonisation across sectors. Future reforms should maintain a balance between climate ambition, investment certainty and the competitiveness of European industries exposed to global competition.

FFIF key message:
The ETS should continue driving emissions reductions while preventing carbon leakage and supporting industrial investments in Europe.
